It sure would explain a few things, though. Her theory is a very tidy answer, but we may never know if it's wrong OR right. When I was in college, the theory I had heard at the time was when a foreign power moved in (either through conquest or trade), they brought their gods, who shifted the balance from an Earth God (usually a Earth Mother, but Poseidon was more of an Under-the-Earth-Father, but still terrestrial) to a Sky Father/God type. Other gods have been shaved off from old gods, just as some gods absorbed old gods or their positions like how Zeus took kingship from Mycenaen Poseidon, so it's not wildly out of the realm of reason. In Red's defense, she clearly says that Poseidon splitting off into Hades is her conspiracy theory, but it is one with merit. Like some say that Melinoe is the daughter of Hades, but others claim Zeus and so I wondered if this potential common origin in Mycenaean Poseidon may be the reason why it got mixed up at times. I mainly started thinking about this because I saw that there's a lot of overlapping sources between Hades' children and Zeus'. And if he does resemble M.Poseidon then how much of M.Poseidon can be seen in Poseidon and Hades (unless the main connection is just their roles in the Pantheon as Gods of Ocean and Underworld). Like did Zeus just take over the role as Primary God and ruler of the other Gods, or is he much more like Mycenaean Poseidon. So I want to know how much did Zeus take from Mycenaean Poseidon, and then how much of Mycenaean Poseidon was split into Poseidon and Hades? Then I was reading or watching something else that said that Poseidon used to be the main God of the Pantheon and Zeus was an existing but pretty minor elemental god at the time. He had three children, a Son named Zagreus and two Daughters named Melinoe and Macaria.I had watched some Overly Sarcastic Productions that mentioned that the original Mycenaean Poseidon was later split into Poseidon and Hades since Hades was never mentioned before and Poseidon used to be a Cthonic Deity. I should make it clear that Hades was never an evil figure in Greek mythology, he was simply the god of the dead. Despite Hades being a benevolent and just ruler of the underworld it's a common misconception that Hades is an evil god.
His symbols include his helmet of shadows, the three-headed dog Cerberus and a two pronged spear. Hades tended to stay in the underworld and out of the affairs of other gods and goddesses. Hades, god of the underworld and eldest child of Kronos and Rhea. Much like Zeus, Poseidon also had a tendency to force himself on women meaning he also had a lot of kids (my favorite being Percy Jackson!) He's most often depicted whilst holding his magic trident which he used to control water and create earthquakes. Poseidon, god of the sea and middle child of Kronos and Rhea. This resulted in him having many god and demigod children.
DISNEY ZEUS POSEIDON HADES FULL
He's probably best know for two things: His Master bolt (or Thunder glaive as I call it) which gives him full control over lightning and his tendency to have his way with every hot woman he lays eyes on. Zeus, god of the sky and lightning is the king of the Olympians and youngest son of Kronos and Rhea. For those of you who aren't very familiar with these three, I'll give you a quick rundown of who they are and what they're like from left to right: For about a year now, I've really been getting into Greek mythology and wanted to draw my own characters designs for the big three, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus.
